The American Monument

The monument consists of a quartzite block and a twisted propeller, which are next to a wooden cross with the inscription: “For the American pilots“. It was inaugurated in 1947 in commemoration to the tragic accident that took the lives of eight American pilots. The two airplanes took off from the Bierset airport and clashed on eachother in dense fog on 6th April 1945.
