Description
Along the way near Gospinal is an old oak tree of about 8 meters high. From the old oak tree root suckers developed that grew into 7 new oak trees that encircle the old oak. These 7 oaks are called the “Seven brothers of Gospinal”.
A popular local folktale tells that the owner of this oak, a lawyer in Gospinal, had his office installed within the circle of trees. People came to him to ask legal advice or for help in disputes.
Another interesting footnote: in September 1904 the municipalities of Sart and Jalhay had a dispute over the direction of a road that should connect both villages. They held a meeting under this tree, where eventually the dispute was resolved and an agreement was reached.
